CELLAR DOOR: $20.00
WINE CLUB: $16.00- Eyes
Bright ruby red.
- Nose
Fragrant blackberry fruits, varietal leafy notes plus toasty cedar oak aromas.
- Mouth
Ripe blackcurrant fruit complimented by choc-mint, undergrowth and cedar oak flavours. Proudly medium bodied with classical Cabernet Sauvignon structure of abundant fine grain tannins which contribute to an elegant, persistent dry finish. This wine is unmistakably varietal Cabernet Sauvignon.
- Winemaking Notes
The Victorian Pyrenees region is renowned for consistently producing Cabernet Sauvignon displaying complexity and definitive regional character, even in dryer years like the 2014 – 2015 growing season, which provided some early rains, a mild spring , warm summer, then a warm dry autumn to finish. Produced from select parcels of low yielding grapes sourced from our estate vineyard, the Blue Pyrenees Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 was fermented to dryness in two-tonne open fermenters and 15-tonne static fermenters. Subsequently, the wine was matured for 20 months in a combination of new and older French and American oak.

Medium-weight cabernet from the Pyrenees region of north-west Victoria. This is in decent form. It doesn’t try to hard; a good thing. It tastes of redcurrant and mint, briar and cedarwood, though everything is set at modest volume; everything just swings through easily. There’s some firmness to the tannin but not too much so. There’s some eucalypt too, which adds lift. Nicely done.

A very handy red from a drier-than-usual season in the Pyrenees district. Lots of cassis and blackberries, plus refined and restrained French oak. Palate shows good balance of fruit, oak, tannin and acidity. I think the jury remains out on whether this is from Victoria’s top cabernet region, though the Pyrenees is right up there.
